The Etruscan Coast is a long narrow stretch of coastline along Tuscany's coast, from Livorno to Piombino. The name of this beautiful coastal area is tied to the presence of the Etruscan civilization that inhabited this land from the beginning of the 9th century BC (way before the Romans), as so many archeological sites demonstrate today. At the Archeological Park of Baratti and Populonia, in the Gulf of Baratti between San Vincenzo and Piombino, you can nowadays visit one of the most important sites, including a large necropolis, in this area left by the ancient Etruscans.
The Coast of the Etruscans is a still unknown area to be explored as it offers different and unforgettable scenarios from place to place. In the first stretch of shore from Livorno to Castiglioncello the coast is rocky, further south as from Rosignano there are sandy beaches for over 80 up to the promontory of Piombino, while In Quercianella the shore features picturesque little pebbly bays. The sea is very clear and full of fishes in this area, ideal for those who love fishing.
