The natural park of Montemarcello, between nature, history and villas overlooking the sea
On the border between Liguria and Tuscany, we discover the Montemarcello-Magra-Vara Park
The Montemarcello-Magra-Vara Park, located in the province of La Spezia, includes an area rich in unspoiled nature, crystal clear sea, history and culture. The park includes 16 municipalities: Ameglia, Arcola, Beverino, Bolano, Borghetto Vara, Brugnato, Calice al Cornoviglio, Carro, Carrodano, Follo, Lerici, Rocchetta Vara, Santo Stefano di Magra, Sarzana, Sesta Godano and Vezzano Ligure.
The conformation of the park consists of a coastal strip, with its splendid coast with fishing villages and enchanting beaches, the area of the Val di Magra with its wetlands rich in biodiversity and in the hinterland the green hills of the Val di Vara with its own river area of great naturalistic and historical-cultural value and the Caprione Promontory with the village of Montemarcello.
On the top of Mount Caprione, 226 meters above sea level, stands one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. From the village of Montemarcello, one is enchanted by the variety of landscapes that range from the Gulf of La Spezia to the Valle del Magra, with the white Apuan Alps in the background.
The name Montemarcello is due to the Roman consul Claudio Marcello who defeated in 155 BC. c. the Ligurian Apuans who lived in this territory. The bishop of Luni Enrico mentioned the name Mons Marcelli for the first time in a document dated 1286 which established the construction of defense works on the promontory, evidence of the importance that this village constituted for the bishop's power of Luni. In 1320 the bishop of Luni entrusted the Amegliese fief to the lord of Lucca, Castruccio Castracani. He established in 1327 the podestà of Ameglia, that is the seat of the podestà, the highest civil office in the government of the cities of central-northern Italy during the Middle Ages, also uniting the village of Montemarcello in the province of Luni.
In the village of Montemarcello, you can breathe the magical atmosphere of its typical alleyways, where the colors of the Ligurian houses predominate, from here various trekking paths branch off, for those who love walking among nature and the Mediterranean scrub.
On the slopes of Montemarcello, it dominates the sea, its beaches and splendid inlets, which can be visited by renting a boat.
In this area each inlet has its name and its history, in geographical order we find first the "Punta dei Preposte" then the Artichoke and a tip that launches itself into the sea known as "Ciapeta". A large rock is located a few meters from the coast and is called "Rocca Grossa"; furthermore, continuing towards Lerici, the rocky coast seems to re-enter the mountain creating almost a cave, we are talking about the "Snake's Den" where a legend tells that a marine creature lived.
And it is in this naturalistic paradise that Broker Immobiliare Exclusive Real Estate offers for sale luxury villas with sea view, located a few steps from the coast in a privileged and convenient position for all lovers of the sea and of the boat.
